Camp Grafton Merit Badge Weekend

The annual merit badge weekend at Camp Grafton gives each youth the opportunity to experience life at the base and to work on a merit badge. All Scouts BSA youth are invited to join us on the weekend of April 26-28th at Camp Grafton. Event Registration must be completed online at https://scoutingevent.com/429-25961  The cost is Youth - $50 Adults - $40 Registration opens on Monday, Feb. 4th at noon and closes at midnight on Wednesday, April 24, however it typically fills in the first week or so.

Scouts can earn the following merit badges:

Scouting for Food March 16 - 23, 2019

Scouting for Food is the largest community service food drive in our area involving Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturers and Explorers.

Your unit should participate in the Council's Scouting for Food community service project.  Let your community know about this service project that helps restock the shelves of your local community food banks.  Let's all work together across the Council and make this year’s effort even more successful than last year’s and collect  more than 85,000 pounds of food across the Northern Lights Council!

Tips for a successful Scouting for Food:

  • Mark Scouting for Food Dates on your Unit's Calendar 
    Saturday, March 16 - Door Hanger Distribution Day
    Saturday, March 23 – Scouting for Food Collection Day
     
  •  Register your Unit to participate by completing:  Scouting for Food Unit Registration Form. 
     
  •  Identify one or more adults in your Scout unit who will coordinate your unit’s participation in Scouting for Food.
     
  • Attend your district Roundtable to pick up Scouting for Food door hangers.
     
  • Record your Scouting for Food community service hours here. Scouting for Food is a service project that helps your unit meet is goals for Journey to Excellence.
     
  • Have fun!  Take pictures. The Scouting for Food community service project is the perfect opportunity to let your community know about your unit.  Leave a unit flyer or thank you note with the door hangers, take pictures and submit them to your local newspaper.

February Roundtable

The next Roundtable has been rescheduled for the 3rd Thursday in February. The new rescheduled date is February 21 at 7:00 pm at Holy Family Church. This date is only for February and will return to the normal date of the 2nd Thursday in March. 

We will also be having a "Meet the Troops" night at the February Roundtable. This will be an opportunity for our Scouts BSA troops to meet with the current Webelos and Arrow of Lights and their families to talk a little bit about what to expect following their transition from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA. This event will take place from 6-7 pm at Holy Family Church but we encourage all troops to have a "Meet the Troop" night in your respective communities. This will also be a time for any females interested in scouting and joining a Scouts BSA troop to stop by and learn more. 

 

Spring Product Sale

The Spring product sale is fast approaching! This sale is designed to help Scouts earn money to attend camp this summer. The Fall popcorn sale helps support the unit and unit activities, whereas the Spring product sale is to help individual Scouts. New this year, the product is being packaged in a distinctive Scouting box that shows that the item being purchased supports Scouting. We will also be allowing 10% return of unsold product. 

There will also be two order dates. This is being used so that units needing more can order more product in time for the April Roundtable or for units that only wish to participate during one month. To order your product, please submit the order form to Sarah Anderson or Mark Landa by the February 15 (product will be available at the March Roundtable) and/or March 15 (product will be available for the April Roundtable). All money will be due at the May Roundtable. 

 

Scout Night with the Fighting Hawks!

Join us for a fun-filled night of great hockey, food, and a movie as the Fighting Hawks take on the Omaha Mavericks. Then stay the night at Ralph Engelstad Arena. Wear your Scout uniform as you’ll be feature on the video boards.

Pick one of two packages! "Overnight" Package or "Game" Package!

$30/ person "Overnight" Package includes:
* One ticket to the game
* Food and Drink prior to the game
* Sportsmanship session with a UND Coach prior to the game
* 2019 Fighting hawks Scout Night Patch
* Movie and camp out in the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center following the Game. Event ends at 8:00 am Sunday Morning!

$23/ person "Game" package:
* One ticket to the game
* 2019 Fighting Hawks Scout Patch

Tickets will be available for pick up at the Grand Forks Field office the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday prior to the game. Afterwards, tickets will be available for pick up at the Scout booth at the arena.

All person (adult and youth) attending must purchase one of the choices above. For those going with the Overnight package, a parent must accompany each scout in attendance. For those bringing the full family, tents will be allowed to be set up in the Betty Engelstad Arena.

Arrival for those staying overnight will be 4:00 pm with time to set up your sleeping areas, grab dinner, have your coaching session and settle down for the night of hockey!

Unit of the Month - Pack 92, Cavalier, ND!

Please join us on March 19th as we come together to recognize our youth and leaders at our annual Awards and Recognition Banquet. The banquet will be held at the Grand Forks Armory and will begin at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be provided for all who attend. We will also be recognizing our Top Popcorn Seller, Top Unit in Popcorn Sales, Top Spring Product Sales and more! To register for the event please register here

We have many different awards and nominations and would encourage every unit to submit at least 1 to 2 nominations. Nominations are due February 21 at Roundtable.
