JTE GOLD in 2018!
For the SEVENTH year in a row, Bay Waters District is a Journey to Excellence GOLD District! In 2018, the district focused on recruiting, invigorating, and revitalizing leadership around the area. We held numerous programs geared towards Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing youth. We improved our retention numbers and were among the top districts in the council with regards to new unit development.
Bay Waters District Committee
The Bay Waters District Committee is searching for a few good women and men to help deliver a great program to all youth across the district. We are currently looking for adults with passion in finance, membership, or program to help share ideas and plan the direction of the district. If you, or someone you know, is interested in helping out please contact Bay Waters District Committee Chair Steve Mills at Smills4@rochester.rr.com. The group typically meets the third Monday of the month in Penfield.
District Pinewood Derby
This year’s annual District Pinewood Derby will take place on Saturday, April 6th from 9:00 to noon. Remember, seven representatives from each Pack (including Lions and Arrow of Light) are welcome to attend and be a part of the big race! Pre-registration is REQUIRED by contacting Nicholas Newsom (Nicholas.email@example.com). No one will be permitted to race without a registration.

Today is the day to plan for your Scout’s future! Registration is now open for all 2019 camping events: Twilight Camp, Cub Resident Camp, Cub Scout Adventure Camp, Webelos-Ree, week-long camps at Babcock-Hovey or Massawepie, Eagle Flight, or National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). Every program offers youth the ability to learn new Scout skills and strengthen existing skills. Please check out the Council website or call the Scout Office for more information about all of our camping programs.
Third Annual Cubmobile Race!
The third annual Bay Waters Cubmobile Race is coming up on May 11th, 2019 at the Sea Breeze Amusement Park in Irondequoit. This event was a great success last year and is lined up to be even better this year due to our partnership with the park!
Again in 2019, the District will open this event to Lions through Arrow of Light youth in all packs across Seneca Waterways Council. Space will be limited to the first 150 Cub Scouts and pre-registration will be required to participate. Registration packets and informational packets are available via email or hardcopy!
Information regarding how to build a Cubmobile has been sent to unit leaders for several months and can be requested from Nicholas Newsom at Nicholas.firstname.lastname@example.org. You can participate as a Pack, as a den or as individuals. The cost for the event is only $8.00 per Scout and will cover recognition for all participants and a championship trophy for the top performing Cubmobile!
The 2019 Spring Camporee will take place May 17 – 19 at Camp Cutler. This year’s theme is The weekend will kick-off with check-in and cracker-barrel between 5pm and 9pm on the 17th of May and checkout will be 11am on the 19th of May. Participant fees go to cover program supplies and participation patches for all involved. Scouting for Food
The annual Bay Waters Scouting for Food campaign will kick off on March 16th. This campaign provides all youth and leadership across the district to volunteer their time and efforts to collect food for needy food pantries across the area. Youth and adults will be dropping off door hangers and bags on the 16th of March, and picking up collections on the 23rd of March. This year Twilight Camp will take place at Durand Eastman Park in Irondequoit, NY from June 24th – June 27th. Twilight Camp is a day camp that happens in the evening between 5:30 PM and 8PM. Dinner is included each night of the week for all staff and participants. This year’s theme is “Weird Science” and camp will consist of numerous hands-on Science experiments and Science demonstrations. Registration for this camp is only $50 and includes all program supplies, t-shirt, patches, food, and materials for all participants.
