Health Care Career Exploring
Health Care Career Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women 14-20 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the fields of health care.
You get to experience firsthand what it's like to conduct surgery on a dog or cat, take vital signs, evaluate an X-ray for broken bones or other ailments, properly put on surgical masks, gloves, and gowns, practice the latest techniques in physical therapy, build a crown for a tooth and so much more!
AGAPE THERAPEUTIC RIDING RESOURCES – POST #1986
Agape has been proving equine assisted activities since 1986. This program is about partnering with horses and learning employment skills, learning by doing.
These employment skills consist of 8 skill sets that are vital with getting and keeping a job: Communication, Teamwork, Problem Solving, Self Management, Planning, Leadership, Ability to Learn /Adapt and Initiative.
By participating in ground work with the horses (no horseback riding) you will learn what it takes to be successfully employed in any job.

ANIMAL CARE SERVICES – POST #2600
Animal Care Services is partnering with Exploring to assist youth 9th – 12th grade in discovering the wide range of veterinary/animal care careers. This will include behind-the-scenes tours and hands on activities, as well as shadowing professionals in these career fields.

The Hancock Regional Hospital Explorers program gives students the opportunity to experience many different guest speakers from different professions throughout the hospital. Students will learn by tours, guest speakers, and hands-on activities throughout the year.

The Health Care Explorers program is for students seeking an in-depth, hands-on experience in the realm of health care. Students will learn about the different professions within the hospital through hands-on activities, games, presentations and close interactions with professionals ranging from hospital administrators to doctors, nurses and dietitians. Explorers who are juniors and seniors are encouraged to shadow at the hospital as an additional way to experience the job fields.

The Indianapolis Zoo is partnering with Exploring to assist youth, 6th – 8th grade, in discovering the wide range of zoo careers. This will include a behind-the-scenes tour to see how a zoo works.

IU BALL MEMORIAL HOSPITAL – POST #320
Indiana University Health Ball Memorial is partnering with Central Indiana Exploring to offer a Medical Explorer program for youth ages 14-20. The Medical Exploring program gives youth an in depth look at different healthcare careers by providing an opportunity to learn and explore in a variety of healthcare settings.

The Riley Health Care Explorers program is for students seeking information about the wide variety of professionals it takes to provide care to patients at Riley Hospital for Children. Professionals may include hospital administrators, nurses, physicians, therapists and support staff who dedicated to the support and care of children and families.

The Riverview Healthcare Explorers program is for students seeking to explore different career paths and provides an in-depth, hands-on experience in the realm of healthcare. Students will learn about the different professions within the hospital by touring various departments, viewing informational presentations and interacting with healthcare employees.
Explorers who are juniors and seniors are encouraged to shadow at the hospital as an additional way to experience the job fields. In addition, students in this program are among the first to receive information about applicable hospital job openings and similar opportunities, as well as detailed information about healthcare degrees offered at local colleges and universities.
