The Aptakisic District Square Knot Award recognizes new unit leaders for their commitment to the Scouting program. This award is intended for registered unit Scouters and can be earned once. Each unit may submit one (1) nominee, Units with more than 10 registered youth as of December 1 can submit nominations based on one additional for every additional 10 youth registered. The qualifications are as follows:

1. Be a registered leader with a unit for at least four months. 
2. Have attended the unit's monthly meetings since being a registered leader.
3. Have attended at least one District roundtable during the year if scheduled.
4. Is fully trained for their registered position.
