Family Rebate Program – 2025 Registration Period
(September 1, 2024, through August 31, 2025)
The Great Falls Council supports the idea that Scouting is for the entire family. We recognize and
appreciate the time and cost of keeping an entire family registered in Scouting. To aid those families
with multiple registered members, our Council has implemented a Family Multi-Member Rebate
program for the annual registration fee.
Overview:
When three or more members of a family register and pay with the Great Falls Council, all registrants beyond the
first 2 (the 3 rd , 4 th , 5 th , etc.) will receive a $25.00 rebate (which is 50% of the local Council fee). All you
have to do is apply!
Details/Definitions:
Who is included in the family: parent, legal guardian, siblings, stepsiblings who live in one household
What registrations are included: All local Council youth and adult registrations in Traditional programs –
Pack, Troop, Crews, Ships, Posts, District, Council in the Great Falls Council.
What registrations are not included: Merit Badge Counselors, Day Camp Staff, Resident Camp Staff
Is this for new registrations or renewals: Both*
*Units in Great Trails, North Star, Voyageur or Whitetail District include registrations that were paid on or after 9/1/2024
Units in Scenic Trails or Winding Rivers District inlcude registraitons that were paid on or after 11/1/2024
Can you give me an example:
Example: Mom Scouter – Troop 123
Dad Scouter – GT District
Daughter Scout – Troop 123 – Family Discount - eligible
Son Scout – Troop 123 – Family Discount – eligible
Mom and Dad would pay the regular registration fee, and both the daughter and son would each
receive a $25.00 discount, totaling $50.00.
Does the whole family need to register at the same time to receive the Family Discount? No. Scouting
America registration is valid for 12 months. As long as two others from the family are already registered,
each subsequent person will receive the family discount within the rebate period.

- If the registrations are not concurrent, then you should apply when the 3 rd , 4 th , etc qualifying person registers and pays.
- The application must include the names of each family member being considered and any who have already received the rebate.
- Application must be made within 30 days of the last person’s registration/renewal date.
Once you have submitted your application for the discount, a reimbursement check for your rebate will
be mailed to your unit leader within approximately four weeks.
If my family has different renewal dates, can I submit after all our renewals/registrations are done?
Yes, and that is the preferred method. Having everyone listed on one application will help to eliminate
delays in processing.
Our Unit paid for all/some of the registration. Can the Unit receive the discount? The rebate will be
mailed to the unit leadership, with the expectation that the portions that are paid by individual families
are passed along to the family.
Is there any way to apply the discount during the registration process, rather than waiting for the
rebate? No, not currently, for two reasons:
- The registration process as designed by the BSA does not have an option to include discounts or rebates
- If the registration periods are not all neatly aligned during the same period, there is no way to automatically confirm eligibility.
