IMPORTANT!

This scholarship application can only be completed by the parent/legal guardian of the Scout with financial need.  If you are a unit leader, DO NOT complete it for them.  There is personal and confidential information only THEY should provide.  Thank you in advance for abiding by this important rule.

WHEN CAN I COMPLETE THIS FORM?  From November 1 (12:00 AM) NOW THROUGH MAY 15 (11:59 PM).  Make sure you click on the "Submit" button at the bottom.

NOTE: We still have plenty of funds for our Cub Scout Day Camps, with only a little left for Akela Camp @ MSR.

WE NO LONGER HAVE FUNDS FOR MSR SUMMER CAMP OR HIGH ADVENTURE TREKS.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS ARE NOT GUARANTEED.  The amounts are determined by the answers your family provides when completing the application so please take your time and answer as completely and honestly as possible.  If you are unsure how to answer or need to update any information (change in employment or a family medical condition, etc.), contact our Program Assistant as quickly as possible: Debi.Geiger@scouting.org.

If our scholarship funds are depleted before the date listed above, the form will be "turned off": The questions and Submit button will no longer show below.  If we are able to reopen the form again, the new closing date will be listed above and the questions (and Submit button) will reappear.

If you have any questions about the scholarship award process, contact Rob.Sinda@scouting.org

CONFIDENTIALITY:  We value your privacy, so Nick and Debi are the only two people who have access to the detailed information you provide.

IS THERE MORE THAN ONE SCOUT IN THE FAMILY OR MORE THAN ONE EVENT/WEEK YOUR SCOUT WANTS TO ATTEND?

You must submit MORE THAN ONE application if:

  1. Your child is attending two weeks of camp, or two different NEIC Scouting events (1 scout for two weeks or 2 events=2 applications)
  2. You have more than one Scout needing financial assistance. Complete an application for each of them (2 or more Scouts=2 or more applications).

This is the only way the approved amounts can be properly applied online to each Scout, Event, and Week as a scholarship ("council program") payment.

WHO REGISTERS MY SCOUT (SCOUTS) FOR CAMP?

  • CUB SCOUTS: You as a parent can register your scout (and family) for Day Camp @ Oakarro, Akela Camp @ MSR, Family Camp, etc.  BUT, if your Pack has offered to pay part of the scout fee too, check to see if they want to complete the online registration instead (it makes it easier for them to pay the balance due).
  • MSR SUMMER CAMP (Scouts BSA and Venturing Crew members): Troops and Crews receive Adult Leader discounts according to the number of Scouts registered online, so contact your unit leader or camp coordinator to register.  Please do not complete these registrations yourself (contact Debi if your scout wants to attend a different week than their Unit as a Provisional Scout).
  • NYLT: National Youth Leadership Training participants must be approved by their Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor, so contact your unit leader to register.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Starting in February, scholarships application data will be downloaded by Debi, the Program Assistant. This will be done every 2-3 weeks, then more often starting later in the Spring.
  • This information will be shared with Nick Roberts, our Scout Executive to finalize approved amounts.
  • Registration Contacts will be notified of the approved amounts.  If the scout is not registered online yet, please make sure they are as quickly as possible after being informed of the amount.
  • Updated scholarship amounts are uploaded into Black Pug/247 Scouting every 2-3 weeks (more often when possible). Payments are then applied to each Scout's online registration by Debi.  This can only happen after they are registered online (she needs a place to apply it).

Contact Debi Geiger if you or your unit have questions about registering online without paying anything yet.

Please be patient, since the closer we get to the summer camp season, the busier both Nick and Debi's daily schedules become.

REGISTRATION BALANCE:  After scholarship payments are applied, it is the family's responsibility to see that the balance for the event is paid in a timely manner to the unit or online.

Find out if:

  • Your Unit has a PayPal account to collect payments
  • Your Unit can/will pay fees from your Scout's Fundraising Account (Cub Scouts and Provisional Scouts included)
  • Your Unit will require payment by check or cash to your Registration Contact or Unit Treasurer (make checks payable to your Unit)
  • Your Unit will activate the "Parent Portal" within the event registration they completed (where your Scout is registered), so your family can make payments online.  Tell them to can contact Debi if they have questions about this option.

DID YOU MISS THE APPLICATION SUBMISSION DEADLINE?  Contact Debi Geiger to see if and/or when this application will be reopened.
