The Edelweiss District has several differing awards you can nominate a Scout or Scouter for...

Please review the below list, then enter your nominations for unit leaders you wish to have recognized in this online form.

This is a submission to the District Advancement Committee. They will review the submissions and grant the awards at a later date during a district meeting (most likely the April Roundtable). any certificates, plaques and/or patches will be mailed after the online award recognition event.

DEADLINE: Please make all of your nominations before March 1st.

Certificate of Appreciation: 

This is for the Scouter/parent who helps out occasionally (Blue and Gold, Pinewood Derby, Troop Lock-In, etc.). The recipient does not have to be a registered leader. This award is now accepted for submission/awarding throughout the year: email edelweissadvancements@scouting.org outside of the annual awards cycle.

Service to Youth Award:

This award is for volunteers who have shown outstanding
Service to youth and Scouting in their units and who enable a quality Scouting
program. Key Den Leaders, Unit Leaders, Assistant Leaders, Committee Chairs, and
Committee members make up the bulk of the recipients.
As a general guideline, the numbers of awards per troop should not exceed 1 per 15
registered Scouts in the unit per year. The district advancement committee will review
the application but generally follows the troop‘s recommendation.


Distinguished Service to Youth

The “Spirit of Scouting Award”: Presented to an individual or group who has shown continuous extraordinary Scouting Spirit through ongoing efforts or on a specific project. The Scouter is a role model for the youth. The award is mainly focused on the unit leadership. The recognition will be a distinctive District Spirit of Scouting certificate.
As a general guideline, the numbers of awards per troop should not exceed 1 per unit
per year. This award is reviewed by the district advancement 
committee.


Edelweiss District Leader of the year:

Presented to an individual who has made continuous extraordinary efforts to provide an outstanding Scouting experience to the youth in their unit. The Scouter is a role model to youth and an inspiration to fellow Scouters. This award is given to the Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisor, Cub Scouter, or Scouter, who delivers the Scouting promise. Preferably, the Scouter has led the unit in a minimum of one week long Summer Camp
or a Cub Scout Day Camp experience and has earned any level JTE Bronze Silver or Gold, This is an award that will go before the selection committee and one will be presentedfor Scoutmaster of the Year, Cub Scouter of the Year, Crew Advisor of the Year, TroopCommittee Scouter and Scouter of the Year.


Edelweiss Patch:

The nominee should be a Scout or Scouter who has made a significant impact on the youth within the Scouting community in and outside of their unit. They are very active in the Unit and are always there to help. This award is reviewed by the district advancement committee.

 

The TAC Patch Award:

The TAC Patch is an award given on behalf of the Transatlantic Council; each District within the Council is only allotted a certain number (1 for every 10 units). The recipient of the TAC Patch is someone that has contributed significantly to their Unit(s) and supports the District.This award is reviewed by the district advancement committee. Up to four will be presented.

District Award of Merit (DAM):

The District Award of Merit is the highest award that can be given by a District and they are limited in the number they can give (1 for every 25 units*). The DAM is given to the Scouter that is truly dedicated to Scouting. A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both - beyond the expectations of the Scouting position. The Scouter must maintain a positive attitude and work in cooperation with the district and council. Most of the times, the Scouter also is very active at the District and maybe Council level.  This is an award that will go before the district advancement committee. Up to two may be be presented annually.

District Outstanding Scout Award:

This award is presented to the outstanding youth(s) in the District who has performed above and beyond the call of duty in service to Scouting, School, Community or Church. Some of the criteria include:

  •  For Scouts BSA and Venturing Scouts, participated in at least one event outside of the Scout’s unit e.g. Staffing a Scouting event (i.e. summer camp staff, camporee staff), being a Den Chief, etc.

  •  Attended a Summer Camp

  • Show extraordinary Scout Spirit

  • Be a role model for fellow scouts

This is an award that will go before the district advancement committee. Each Unit may nominate one (1) youth per year.
