Each year, the Northern Lights Council presents a Report to the State to the Governor of North Dakota, highlighting the impact of Scouting across our state. The 2026 Report to the State is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Bismarck (if the date changes, the event will take place on a different Wednesday in February).
Scouts from across North Dakota are invited to participate in this special event, which includes giving the invocation, leading the Pledge of Allegiance, introducing the Governor, and sharing Scouting’s story. After lunch, Scouts will also have the option to join a guided tour of the North Dakota State Capitol and meet with state leaders. In past years, participants have met the Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court, the Secretary of State, and other officials.
Scouts will be selected from the pool of nominations based on their performance and participation in Scouting, extracurricular involvement, special honors, and overall character. Selected Scouts, along with a parent and unit leader, must be able to travel to Bismarck, arrive by 11:00 a.m., and remain until the program concludes at approximately 4:00 p.m. All Scouts are expected to be in full uniform.
Nominations are due by Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Scouts selected to participate will be notified by Friday, January 9, 2026, via email.
